Generate optimized driving or walk routes with one click

Updated over a month ago

Ecanvasser's Route Planning feature enables your team to plan the most efficient routes with just one click

What are the Benefits of Route Planning:

  • Improves productivity - the automated route planner allows you to reach your targets faster

  • Saves time - spend more time talking to the right people and less time wondering how to get there

How to Create Your Route

  1. From the Map view on the app select the green plus sign ( + ) icon.
Note - Please ensure you have location permission enabled on your device.

  2. Select the Create Route option below the Create House button.

  3. Tap on the map to draw a polygon around the area of houses you want to add to your route. Once complete, confirm that you would like to add the selected houses to the route.

Note: The maximum number of stops on any route is 200.

  4. You will now be directed to the Route Planning view, where you can manage your route further and make any necessary changes before starting.

How to Manage Your Route

Route Settings

The Route Settings are located on the top right of the route planning screen.

This allows you to indicate whether you want the route in Walking or Driving mode and also whether you want to avoid highways and tolls.

Selecting your Start and End Locations

The Start and End locations of your route are set to your current location by default.

Should you wish to change this, you can click on the row that says 'Start Location' or 'End Location' and which allows you to move the location to somewhere else.

Route Optimization

Use the OPTIMIZE action to generate the fastest route to visit each of your stops in the shortest time possible:

Starting Your Route

To start your Route, use the "Start Route" button located at the bottom of the Route Planning screen. From here, you will see your Route Summary, where the following information is available:

  • Your route's start location, denoted by a green checkered flag

  • Your route's end location, denoted by a black and white checkered Flag

  • Total distance of your route

  • Travel duration of your route

  • Number of stops on your route

The three dots to the right will allow you to either Edit or End your current route.

You can edit the following at this point:

  1. Remove a stop from your route

  2. Re-order the stops by a drag-and-drop

If you are satisfied with your route summary, select "Start Route" again.

You will now be brought to the first stop.

From here you can action the following for the stop displayed on the screen, denoted by a yellow pin on the map:

  1. Record an Interaction

  2. View/Edit house, houses or building Information - depending on the building type

  3. Directions - This will open your device's default map application, where the address will be populated for you to then find directions.

  4. Skip a Stop

  5. Go back to a previous stop

When an interaction is recorded, the colour of the pin and interaction icon will be updated and you will be prompted to navigate to the next stop on your route.

Continue this process for all of the stops on your list as you work your way through.

Finishing Your Route

When the last stop on your route has been finished, you will be brought to the Route Complete Screen. You will see how many of the stops on your route that you visited.

Using the "Finish" button will bring up your Route Statistics and provide additional insight into the route that you just finished. Here you will see:

  • Total number of stops

  • The number of interactions logged on your route

  • Number of skipped stops

  • Interaction activity information for each stop

Closing the statistics then returns you to your normal Map view, where the route is now gone, and you can move on to creating the next one.
