Geocoding your File

Plotting your imported addresses on the Map

Updated over 12 months ago

Geocoding is the process of converting your contact's addresses into latitude and longitude coordinates on a map for optimal plotting.

This process typically takes up to an hour, though the exact time depends on the number of rows in your imported file.

The accuracy of geocoding depends on the quality of the address data provided.

Below is an overview of the different types of geocoding accuracy, referred to as Location Type, along with their meanings:

Geocoding Location Types

Location type

What this means

No Location

There is no geocode information available based on the address information supplied

Extremely Accurate

This is a precise geocode for the address

Very Accurate

This is an approximate geocode interpolated between two precise points (such as intersections).
This geocoding information usually occurs when rooftop geocoded are unavailable for a street address

Moderately Accurate

This is the geometric center of an address such as a street or region

Approximate

This is an approximate geocode for the address

Manual (User Input)

This is when the address information has been supplied by the user. This can be either through the import process or when a user manually creates a house through the web app using the GPS coordinates from the pin position on the map

Phone GPS

The address has been created through the mobile app using the GPS coordinates of the mobile device

Common Geocoding Issues

Imported Longitude and Latitude, but Houses Display Incorrectly on the Map

If your houses are showing up in the wrong locations, you might have misassigned the longitude and latitude columns during import.

Contact us via the chat function, and we'll help you resolve this issue.

Import Reached 100%, but Houses Aren't Appearing on the Map Page Yet

When your file doesn’t include longitude and latitude data, we need to convert the addresses to coordinates. This process usually takes up to an hour.

Feel free to reach out via chat for an estimated completion time for your file.
