Creating Your Email Blast

Getting Started

Navigate to the Email Blast tab, and select Compose Email Blast. There are four steps to the process:

1. Title Your Email Blast

The Title of your Email Blast is for internal reference - this is so that you identify it should you want to check in on, or review it at a later date. Once you select Done here, your blast will save as a draft (it will continue to update the saved draft periodically throughout the process).

2. Segment Your Voters

Here we will determine who this blast is being sent to using the Filter Tree. Of note here:

  • Person -> Contact Details -> Has email address is automatically ticked, and cannot be removed
  • As a result of this, you can skip this step and proceed straight to step 3 if you wish
  • If you prefer the old method of pre-segmenting your database via the People or Map tabs, you can continue to do so by simply filtering via Person -> Groups -> Group
  • Interesting ways of using this segmentation might be to send a blast to:
  • all of the people who fall under Canvassing -> Canvass Type -> Not Home to advise that you were sorry you didn't get to meet them during the campaign, and providing some literature on your campaign platform
  • those people who took Lawn Signs to advise as to the process for collecting/returning them after the election
  • those people who took part in Surveys to advise them as to your findings, and how you intend to proceed based on the feedback you received

Once your ready here, you can select Done to proceed once more.

3. Compose Your Email

This part of the Email Blast will continue to work as before. A few things you may wish to note, in general:

  • Subject will relate to the subject field that will display as part of the email a person receives
  • Reply Email will be the email address that your Voters will address any responses to (it can be a good idea to set up a dedicated email address for this)
  • All emails will automatically open with Hello {First Name}
  • The text editor includes options to insert links, and videos. Images can be simply copy and pasted into the body of the message

4. Review Your Blast

Finally, you have an opportunity to review the details of blast in their totality. If there is anything you'd like to change you can move back through the previous steps as necessary.

From the main page of the Email Blast tab, you can get a high level view of how all of your blasts so far have performed (naming your blasts appropriately becomes important here!).

For a more in depth view, you can click into any of your past blasts and see all of the details of the blast, including:

  • The email content
  • Key Metrics on how your targeted segment engaged with the email, inculding:
  • Total Sent
  • Opened
  • Delivered
  • Bounced
  • Uninterested
